Today’s photo is a picture that i shot first thing in the morning at my uncle’s house in new mexico. this was the third morning of a long ride, with one more leg to go. i had done 1,000 miles the day before.. ashland to wichita.. and then the second leg from wichita to las cruces
new mexico is more like a painting than a place. and for a few hours, i was lucky enough to ride through it.
if you are ever in the las cruces area, you have to make a stop at the pepper pot. this is the chile capital of the world, and this title is well deserved. get there early, for breakfast, and get a half and half. unless you have another 1,000 miles to ride. then, maybe get split one with a friend.
the song for this week is one of my favorite road trip songs ever. it’s a great song to drop into your playlist when you are 500 miles from home, and your body is cramping up, but you know that you will be able to sleep in your own bed tonight. plus, the whole bedouin soundclash album is great from start to finish.
i guess one of the best things about going on such a long and far trip is that although it’s great to wake up in a strange place every morning, and kick around new streets with strange faces, it’s ultimately the nicest thing to be under your own roof, and in your own bed.
good luck to everyone in the contest!

So do you really think this will encourage comments?
And do you really think I could get Alli to eat at a place called the Pepper Pot?

it seems to have worked! ZING!
actually, i don’t want comments as much as i wanna give away shiz…

Great shot Sergio! Really gives you a feel of the place. Hope all is well for you and your family. Great tune also!

I was just going to comment so hopefully you would owe me lunch, but I do have to say that’s a cool little truck.
Also, I normally HATE power lines in general, but they make it work in this photo.

I’d have to agree with Steve… The truck is what makes the photo. Too bad you can’t find old trucks like that ’round here. The salt from the roads has eaten away at the finish and engine leaving nothing but a pile of rust and dried rubber….

I went on a family trip to New Mexico when I was 9….and I still remember the magic of it 19 years later. You’re right….it is more of a painting than a place.

As, always, beautiful. You have such a great eye, and a terrific talent. Who knew way back when?

We have a truck similar to this in our garage-its Michael’s grampa’s 1961 Ford F250. Its not been fixed up so it has a lot of character! Great Picture!

Hey bro,
This is a great shot – I know exactly where you took it. All that is missing is Uncle Punky’s cat Patches.

Wow
really enjoyed that photo. I love New Mexico…..thought about moving there in the 70’s and was thru the Northeast corner last time I went to Durango

Great shot! Like everyone else, I love the truck.
Years ago I visited a friend in NM and we basically drove from one end of the State to the other. I couldn’t agree more with it being like a painting rather than reality. The beauty is unreal, no matter what part of the state you visit. And, it’s a dry heat! ;c )
Seriously though, I’d probably take the heat there over our heat here with the ridiculous humidity.
Also while I was there, I skied Taos. How great is that? Walking around in shorts and T-shirts down low, and skiing up on high. Paradise.
